Sunday Morning
Lazy Morning with a Fun Breakfast
Set that alarm clock back, or maybe don’t set one at all. Wake up slowly and treat yourself to a nice lazy morning. Put on some music and make a fun breakfast! Start your Sunday habits for a productive week off with a sweet breakfast consisting of French toast or pancakes with berries, or maybe you prefer something savory like an omelet. Whatever it is, have fun with it!
Laundry
Laundry doesn’t necessarily have to be a boring chore. You can set a load of laundry up the night before and fold it while watching TV on Sunday morning. It’s an easy way to get one of your Sunday habits for a productive week done before you enjoy the rest of your day. Bonus if you’re able to plan out your outfits for the week! (But that’s a level of organization few of us strive for.)
Groceries
Whether you hopped on the grocery delivery train or prefer to go shopping in the store, grocery shopping can be a rewarding Sunday task. Set some time aside to create a grocery list and go in with a plan in mind. Not only will you save money in the end, but you’ll also save time in the store and save yourself from additional trips to the store for items you forgot. To have some fun with shopping, pick out a new recipe to try from Pinterest or your favorite cookbook. You can also have a special item on your grocery list that you’d like to reward yourself with!
Sunday Afternoon
Meal Prep Lunch
Meal prepping lunch for the week will save you so much time and money over the week. Think about how many times you’ve had a short amount of time to grab something quickly for lunch either from your fridge or from a restaurant. Instead, grab your pre-made from a meal prep container. By using your Sunday for meal prepping, you have more time to intentionally plan your meals. By giving more time to the recipe on one day of the week, you’ll end up with a delicious, and often more nutritious meal for everyday of the week. Your future self will thank you!
Clean
Taking half an hour or an hour to clean spaces you normally wouldn’t have time for during the week will make you feel more organized and clear your mind during the week. This can include sweeping the floors, dusting, cleaning the bathroom, and cleaning your counter space. Creating a cleaning schedule will help you stay on track and save time in the long run.
Quality Time
If you’re a student, quality time will likely mean quality study time. Sunday’s are a perfect time for downloading lecture notes and slides and keeping track of any assignments. You can knock out a few hours of prepping for the week ahead by reading lecture notes or reviewing slides.
If you’re a normal person, quality time can mean quality time with your family, friends, pets, or your religion. Maybe you’d like to enjoy some time outside with your loved ones, or call someone you haven’t spoken to recently.
Sunday Evening
Meal Prep Dinner
Yes, meal prepping comes back again! For the same reasons as meal prepping lunch, you can save so much time during the week. Plus, not to mention, you’ll save energy. The last thing anyone wants to do when they’ve come home from a long day of school or work is make dinner. Putting in the effort on Sundays will lead to yummy meals that you’ll look forward to all week long. Pinterest has great recipes you can try if you’re looking for some inspiration!
Budgeting
Arguably, this is the least fun item on this list, but hear me out. Staying on top of your finances is so important. Sundays are the perfect day to reflect on the previous week’s spending habits and set money goals for the week ahead. You can use a budgeting spreadsheet, an app like Mint, or a cash envelope system to keep track of your spending habits. Check out this budgeting planner for an organized system to track your personal finances, or use this binder with reusable envelopes for the envelope budget method.
Plan the Week Ahead
Pull out your planner and scheduler and organize the week’s tasks. Pay attention to deadlines and appointments. This might be a good time to go through your emails and jot down any important upcoming events. Plus, you’ll start off the week with your inbox at a clean slate.
Unwind and Unplug
After the days tasks, relax before the week ahead knowing you’ve set yourself up for a great week. Spend some time doing something you enjoy like reading or self-care. Go to bed early if you can, and wake up fresh and ready to face the week head on!
